Hotwine posted on the '02, which I had thought that I picked up, but it turns out to be the '01. I wasn't disappointed, however.

Deep ruby color, and a fragrant nose that filled the room with cherry pie aromas. Layer upon layer of cherry fruit on the palate, with some earthy tones and subtle barnyard and bacon fat coming out late. The finish is long and all cherries. It wasn't Old World-style, but more of a tasty fruit bomb, yet it had the texture and acidity appropriate for the varietal. If you like your PNs to be a bit thinner, more nuanced, and a bit more delicate, it may not be for you. If you like 'em fat, then give it a try. I'll look for the '02 next to see how it compares. 13.9% alc. Paid $20 for it at Whole Foods.

FWIW, WS 86 and WE 87. Both said drink now.

If you like the smell of roofing tar then you'll really enjoy the 02. After hr opened the tar subsided to only echo in the glass and the strawberry pop tart and cherry began to shine through. A slight stinky panty note carried throughout. Great acidity balanced with the tannins. I simply couldn't get the tar out of my head.
Interesting wine... once.
ciao
