i am looking for a good sweet red wine to serve beef. any ideas? must be in a medium price range, and classy enough to impress

I would never serve a sweet red with beef. The fat in the meat clashes with the sugar in the vino.

That said, I'd suggest you might want to try a wine that has apparent sweetness because of the fruit forward taste of the wine.

Try a wine from France known as Beaujolais. Or you may want to head toward a wine with a bit dryer and earthier taste, but still a lot of fruit.

If so, try some of the wines from the Rhone region of France, a GSM (Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre) from OZ (Australia) or a syrah from California.

Yeah, sweet red wine with beef would certainly come close to your moniker--toiletwine...

Perhaps you could seek a red with high alcohol (Zinfandel at 14 or 15%). High alcohol often makes a wine seem sweet. After all, alcohol is fermented sugar and if it weren't hot to the taste, it would be sweet.
