Anybody remember Jimmy Walker from "Good Times?" I thought about him while drinking this last night, as this wine was "Dy-no-mite!"

Decanted 30 minutes before 1st pour and throughout evening. Deep ruby to garnet in color. Cherry and pine needles on a very expressive nose that filled the whole room from the decanter. Beautiful, silky Pinot fruits wrapped in a touch of forest floor, with a cinnamon spice finish turning over to hints of bacon fat, smoke, and barnyard toward the end of the evening. Very complex wine that evolved and went through subtle changes during the evening. As enjoyable a bottle of wine as we've had in some time. Just wonderful stuff. Anne picked it up from Vintage Wines in San Diego for about $40. Alc. 13.9%. FWIW, WS gave it an 88. It's not an 88 in my book. Highly doubt that the '01 can be found anywhere, but I'll certainly be looking for Penner-Ash in the future, and Anne and I will likely visit when we're out west this summer for the offline.

John touted me on this last year. Haven't opened any yet but will certainly do so whenced I return from this stupid sabbatical. WW

Dan, Do you think you will be visiting Oregon prior to the offline or after? I hope to spend parts of two days in the Willamette Valley prior to the offline so may run into you and Anne in the tasting rooms.

We're still mulling that one over. If we do decide to visit Oregon before rather than after, I'll let you know our particulars, as perhaps we could make some visits together, if you were up for it.
