Hello Everyone!! Yes, I am still alive and kicking, tho life has been keeping me pretty busy!!

I have a question for all of you....I am heading to Oregon one week from now, and I was interested in your opinions about what is a must see. I know the big pinot event is going on there that same weekend ( Randy, maybe we will run into eachother) But, because of the spontaneous nature of this trip....I do not have tickets to that event. What wineries are a must see??? Rex Hill is on my list...are there some small names that are a must either for the beauty of the winery or the wonderful wine??

And and all info appreciated!
Nancy

Welcome back N. Did you get my email?

Try to check out King Estate and Adelsheim; two of my personal likes. If you can find Duck Pond (the Oregon one) that would be nice too.

Archery Summit -- beautiful, wine is good but pricy.

Belle Pente -- rustic, producing some of the best out of OR.

Hey thanks guys!! Yes Foodie I got your email, and I apologize for not getting back to you on that in a timely manner!! I have been moving and so life has been a bit upside down. Congrats on the release of your book...I look forward to reading it!!

Thanks Bucko....hey Bucko, I am flying into Seatac.....and driving with a friend down to portland ( sherwood actually ) We are looking for a reasonably priced hotel near the airport since his house is quite a drive and we do not want to make it that late at night. It does not need to be fancy...just clean. I am getting in late and so extras are not important.

Thanks!
Nancy

Well thank you Bucko, that would be very enjoyable sometime. Perhaps another trip, I am sure I will be back out that way.

Going to Indy?? Now that sounds fun too!!!!!
Are you a race fan??? I enjoy stock car racing ( winston cup ).....but caught heck for taking a nice port in with me to the race instead of whiskey or beer. OH well......<laugh>

Thanks for the hotel ideas bucko!!
Hope your trip to Indy is safe and enjoyable!

Nancy,

A few years ago I had some Cristom Pinot Noir--haven't seen it in this neck of the woods since, but I remember its rich, Burgundian style. Look them up in Oregon.

Thank you for the suggestion Foodie! I will see how many places I have time to hit, we are also planning on spending time at the beach and are doing some hiking. But I will certainly hit as many of the wineries as I can. :-)

No, I'm not a race car fan, monster truck fan, tractor pull fan, WWF Smackdown fan, or Survivor fan -- I'm REALLY out of the loop.

Bucko- As long as you have a wine glass in one hand, and a full bottle in the other, I wouldn't worry about it too much!

I am with winecollector on the one, Bucko!!

Hmmm....perhaps describing myself as a race fan is a bit strong also. I am too cool to be a true race fan. But I do manage to get to Bristol some years for a race with a bunch of wine loving friends...who for that weekend (to my dismay) regress to bud and miller....laugh!!
I sent Randy Cap a photo from the race last year....he said I looked like a dixie chic. I don't think it was a compliment..... ...I told him I was trying to BLEND to keep from getting thrown out!

I actually think the wine world should get into the sport....since I have been going to the races....I have seen a real change. HUGE amount of money in the sport now days and the fans are not the rednecks of yesterday but people with a fair bit of money!! ( rich rednecks?? ) There is one winery from the northeast that has had sponsorship on a car part time....I think its a great idea!!

Anyway...thanks for the info guys!
Nancy
