Deep ruby. Concentrated nose of red and black fruits, spice, and earth. On the palate a dose of vanilla bean comes thru. Big entry, weighty center and a 4 lapper finish. Still some tannins to carry another 2-4. Hard to remember the 4 other vineyards but this sucker sure was pleasant. 91/90 45 by the box. 14.9% alc. WW

Well iff'n it wasn't clear to me before, yesterday has driven the point home....HARD...the weener is no longer a 2-bottle-s-dsy drinker. After the lunch with the 97 Lewelling last nite I had the itch to open something with dinner so went with the Garys'.Still evolving with a little more tart cherry in this bottle than I remembered in the other bottles but was still berry-berry good. No change in scoring but for any of you insomniacs out there, I can verify this hummer will help as it put me to sleep an hour earlier than usual. Also moving at half-speed all morning. Back to lunch-wine only from hence-forward. WW

Forgot to post on this and the 02 Clos Pepe we had at lunch yesterday. It's been so long since I ventured out to lunch with anyone that I took one of each to opur fav hang-out and met a close buddy. He's really gotten into wine in the past year and is developing a fine pa;ate. Contrary to what Brian says about drinking his juice young,IMHO, this wine has not only kicked up a point aroma-wise but the flavors are blending much more harmoniuosly with a couple of years of bottle age. Same goes for the Pepe. Can't pick a favorite from the two but both are solidly in the outstandy catagory. Still have the other vineyards to try but firmly believe that for my tastes they'll perform the same as these 2 hummers. WW
