I'm considerably behind on TN postings, so I thought I'd start here. VD wine and the date is significant as it was our wedding year -- we're going on 10 years this June. Anyway, moldy cork had me depressed at first, but the wine was intact. Bright firehouse red color with only subtle bricking along the edges. Nose of black cherries is confirmed by the flavors, with the cherries wrapped in a delicate frame. Over time, subtle barnyard and clove aromas came out. Very feminine. A nice example of an aged Pommard. We were very happy with it. Alc. 13.5%. Paid $50 locally, which is steep, but it's not easy to locate older Burgundy in these parts. Far more satisfying than the similarly priced Goldeneye we had a while back at the same price point. The centerpiece for a nice evening.

Dan, can you legally order wines from retailers in other states? If so, you might want to get on the mailing list for www.carolinawine.biz (Carolina Wine Company). On the website, there's a place on the righthand side to sign up for e-mail. They send a lot of e-mails out so you might want to specify interest in only Pinot Noir/Burgundy. But the owner is interested in Burgundies and carries a number of good ones from generic Bourgogne Rouge from reputable producers to village level, premier cru and grand cru. Of course, shipping will add to the expense, but it might be worth it for the occasional purchase.

Generally, no, however some retailers have started to ship to GA anyway. Not quite sure if there is a loophole in the new law that allows retailers to ship if they pay some sort of fee or something. I'll look into it further and see if they ship. Thanks for the heads-up.
