($25). This concentrated young pinot is dark purplish in color. It offers a big noseful of red fruits, with candied cherries leading the way. Big juicy flavors of spicy red fruits, with little acidity or tannin. Yup, this is a fruit bomb, and a darned good one. Give it a year or so to calm down, then drink over the next two. Or just decant.

Sounds pretty good to me and reasonably priced for Oregon.

Glad to hear they seem to be back on track. I loved their '98 and '99, but then they had some issues with WAAAAY to much barnyard in two of the last 3. I'll look for the '03. Thanks for the tip!

dananne: coming after several burgundies, i could detect no barynyard in the adelsheim, though i might have been desensitized to it a little bit. but i can say with certainty that if there was some barnyard in the adelsheim, it wasn't much at all because i didn't put it in my notes.

Newsguy and Dananne,
I was able to try this at the Black Olive Restaurant in Baltimore with my lunch (appetizer portions of tzatziki and grilled mushrooms with a small Greek salad).
2003 Adelsheim Pinot Noir, Oregon
$12.00 for the glass (high)
Deep mahagony color. From organic grapes.
Viscous. Perfumed nose. Tasting of red fruits, raspberry mainly, and rose petals. Some weight on the finish, yet the impression that it is airy and elegant. I was aware of some wood influence but felt it was restrained enough to enhance the wine. Well made! I don't know if it's one to age, but it certainly is drinking well now. I may have just added Adelsheim to my list of wineries to visit in August prior to the offline (if they are open for tastings).
