With Christmas dinner, consisting of standing rib roast, garlic mashers, green beans almondine, asparagus sprouts in cream sauce, homemade crescent rolls, baby carrots in a glaze of butter, brown sugar and Jack Daniels Black, finished with chocolate fudge cake with fresh raspberries and Warre's '92 LBV Port (burp). Yee-haw! My only disapppointment was she wouldn't let me smoke the roast over oak.

Still trying to get a grip on the wine profile... "young", "unfinished" come to mind. Nice fruit, not too tannic, but just not ready for prime time yet, even with two hours in the decanter. Should have sacrificed some of my older but less plentiful Bordeaux, but the dozen assembled family members weren't geeks, so they didn't care.

Failed to mention that I found the '00 at Costco late last week for $17.49.... just had to liberate a few, heh heh.

Back at Costco today, and they had two cases visible. Liberated a few more. Expect a price increase when they receive their next shipment, due to euro appreciation.

Popped another '98 tonight to accompany oak-grilled ribeyes, steamed brocolli and spuds, finished with pieces of dark chocolate. This youngster is starting to come around, with a good St Julien nose, very nice fruit, and moderating tannins. Still short of potential but definitely improved over last year. D was delighted with her second birthday dinner in two days.
