My eyes rolled when she started preparing her 'kraut with Healthy Choice sausage (chicken, pork & BEEF) overlaid with garlic mashers. What the blue blazes would work with that, says I? A ha! A cheapo "Pie-not-nore", that's what. 1999 Maison Nicolas VdP d'Oc. It showed good fruit through the smokescreen of flavors in the dish, and enough just enough alcohol (12.5%) to give it a bit of depth. At only $7.99, it's a nice staple to have on hand. Yeah, yeah, I know, I've posted on it before, but I need remindin'.

Next time you might want to try a gewurtz or pinot gris from Alsace.

Good cheap pinot sounds pretty good to me, but since charcrute garni is one of my favorite winter dishes, I can also vouch for Alsatian generic mixed whites like Hugel 'Gentil' or Sparr 'One'. $7 or $8, hard to beat with wine & broth-simmered kraut & smoked sausage.
