In less-than-stellar vintages, does Yquem release a wine under its normal label, sell the grapes, or make a second-label wine or something like that?

Joe, they have a Website at yquem.com that includes a link for asking questions. Couldn't find the direct answer to your question on their Web pages.

Joey ole snort.. The norm for Y'Quem is to drastically restrict what the vines produce. If the fruit is unusable, It's my understanding that no wine is produced.. With their resources ( Helicopters drying wet grapes, hand-picking by 3 times the normal crews, and immense inspection of picked clusters) very seldom do they not have production. WW

Their Website listed only one year in the last 20 in which no wine was produced. That was 1992.

Thanks fellas ... this was, in case it wasn't obvious, to settle a slight disagreement.

I guess neither of us was 100% right, actually. I thought Yquem produced a wine every year, and my friend thought it was only once every other year or even less. At least I was closer.
