Haut-Medoc Cru Bourgeois Superieur. Had planned a Chianti Classico to accompany Italian fare, but she changed the menu on me at the last minute. Re-corked the CC and popped this one for beef pot roast, spuds & green beans, taking it straight from the bottle with no time for decanting. Nice deep red, sweet cedary nose... a bit soft on the entry for a Brdeaux but gains stature with lively red fruit and a graceful finish. Not a bell-ringer but very acceptable for the freight at only $12.99. 13.5% alc/vol, a bit higher than normal probably due to that hot summer in '03. I'll buy more at the price for near-term consumption.
