After all the hype, negative and positive, about this wine I decided to pop one tonight with Eileen. Clear dark ruby. Can't report accurately on the nose as I'm a little stuffed up but my wife reports a closed nose of dark fruit, cedar and some floral scents. Firm flavors of mature plum and slightly tart strawberry, medium bodied and slightly astringent...not bad, but not the QPR that has been touted IMHO. 13.5% Alc/vol. $16

I'll stick some away but I don't think this wine will improve. It didn't taste disjointed, just didn't seem to have the stuffin' IMHO. Interestingly the night we drank the Guenoc my wife wanted a little more but bottle's gone so I opened a '97 Gallo Sonoma....she loved it and couldn't believe she was drinking an $8 wine compared to the Guenoc.

Well boy was I wrong!!!!!! Popped our last one tonight with friends and WoW! Rich plum and dark fruit, cocoa and a touch of cinnamon. Long finish with a bank of dusty tannins I declare this wine to be at peak, for my buds. 13.5% Alc/vol. GO ORIOLES...THEY BEAT THE DEVEL RAYS TONIGHT AND ARE STILL IN FIRST PLACE

May have to get to Baltimore for a long weekend and take in one or two games this summer.

The season is still young. Just wait until our two starters get off IR. Go Sox!
