Just allocating budget for wine purchases this year and looked over the new mailer from Robert Craig. Boy, prices have really jumped. His excellent single vineyard cabs (Howell and Mt. Veeder) have both gone to 70 per bottle. That is up from 50, or a 40 percent lift. His Affinity has only gone up to 45 from 40. He releases the 04 Affinity at the end of this month.

But still, this is a large jump in price. I am going to have to consider how much I buy this year.

WW, can you use your bat-phone and give the Bober a call and talk some sense into the man? :-)

Mark

This was missed on my return from Vegas. You have to admit the 2 single vineyard bottlings in comparison to comparable products are still a bargain. The Affinity is still WAY under-priced. The only number I get whenced using me bat-phone is Carlsbad Caverns. WW

Yeah, I know WW, they are still a bargain. But goodness - they used to be THE bargain. Oh well, I told Rachel she could still mark me down for a case of each.

BTW, the 04 Affinity will be the first year that it is 100 percent estate and single vineyard fruit. Also, for the first time it will be completely unfined. Big time bargain.

We had the pleasure of visiting Roberts' new digs. It's dead on top of Howell Mtn. and you can actually see all of Napa and clear into Sonoma from the gorgeous balcony. Beautiful new winery and the proprietor is one of the sweetest guys in the wine biz. WW
