Decanted for 1 hour.
Beautiful opaque black/purple color. Muted nose of black fruit and alcohol. Upfront cedar notes mixed with mature plum, chocolate and an unknown bitter component. A year ago this wine was a little too astringent now this bottle seems to be a little flabby. Smooth but lacks good acidic balance. Not bad overall but no match for the '93 IMHO. I'm hoping this was just an off bottle. 14.3% Alc/vol.

Drew-ole'-bean, welchume back. Have heard reports that the Florida BTF is on the look-out for some smuggler bringing wine in from back East. That bottle is either a bad boy or your stash is in a dumb period. This bottle should just starrt showing its' pedigree in another 2-4. WW

Had this two nights ago with filets in a brandy peppercorn cream sauce. Initially there was an excessively bitter note on the finish, so we decanted and opened a Lambourn Family Zin Howell Mountain, when we got back to the Cinq (about 45 min.) the bitterness was gone leaving the plum and chocolate. I did not find flabbiness.

Popped one last night. Really beautiful classic California Meritage. Dark and red fruits, cedar, cigar tobacco and bitter chocolate flavors with a nice linguring finish. Still plenty of fine tannins and this bottle showed no signs of bricking. I think I'm down to my last two.

Popped one last night to overcome them wine blues. Absolutely at the tip, top of it's game. Very floral with sweet cassis, spice, dark berry, mocha and a tad of cinnamon. Really nice. Eileen fought for and got more than her share . Hard to believe that this was bought for about $20.
