Penne in Vodka Sauce

I'm serving my specialty of penne in vodka sauce for my special someone and was wondering a what wine to serve it with. I've recieved a couple suggestions from friends but i wanted to know from an expert.

Give us a little more information about the sauce...Basically, vodka has no taste, so the dish must be getting its flavor somewhere else...spice? tomatoes? basil? what? The answer to that will decide the wine.
