winnow and foodie, thanks for your replies...it is nice to see that i am not the only one who values red wine as a great friend and can console with it..i have been drinking red wine since i was 16, but then it was just a glass every month here and there behind my familys back..i always train myself not to drink if i have to get up early in the morning. i powerwalk 2 miles a day and my diet is good except when i drink red wine, at that point i have thin sliced pizza, cheese, cheese and cheese..it never fails, the red wine makes me do it..my problem is i do not drink water while i am drinking, so i am up half the night drinking water everytime i drink. the good thing is that i do eat something before i drink as well as take the necessary vitamins...

I just report the studies, I don't do them, nor I do follow them too often.

Agreed, Sedster--The key to a two-bottle dinner is to take your time, make it last and not rush it. On New Year's Eve a friend and I had a four-bottle dinner (~two bottles each), but it began at around 3pm and lasted until around 1am. It worked out well and we got to try some great recs from the board!

sometimes i drink 2 bottles in one night..i dont feel good anymore drinking 2 bottles anymore like i used to..i dont feel good drinking more than a bottle anymore to tell you the truth..but i always drink a bottle/half of cabernet on any given weekend...the problem with me is that i do not drink water while i have the wine and that is bad because i am up most of the night drinking water..i usually drink @ 5pm and by 4 or 5am in the morning, i start feeling better again and less thirsty...

bridgehorse, did the obvious ever occur to you? Drink a glass of water for each glass of wine--preferably before you go to bed.

I still have no idea what milk thistle is and how one would (not to mention why one would) injest it. Suppose I could Google it--but I don't feel like it...

Very seldom will I injest 2 bottles in any given evening. I drink a bottle at lunch and a bottle with dinner nightly. Always have the water glass at the ready. Never drink without food. Life is GOOD!WW

Bridgehorse, I've been out of the loop this weekend, but I am sure that the board has been down this road before with you. If anyone would care to do a search in the Wine Health forum, one will find 17 entries of yours, mostly dealing with red wine consumption. In fact, it seems that you have for the most part, cut and pasted your same old question. I don't get it.

georgie, i really dont understand why you would track my postings.. i always like to hear from new members and what their views are and even like to hear from the older members to see what new info they have..i am sorry if i rarely post the same question, this is because of the above, and i dont feel i post the same things all the time that it would make it so obvious..foodie and now yourself seem to be bothered by this..i am just into replies to my health questions, thats it, and i really feel that in the past my questions have been answered differently by the members in many ways...i promise i will be more careful when posting the same messages..thanks

Sounds like my AINAL brother.

Wow, I did a search on all of you post and all are in the Wine & Health section. All are similiar including 2 questions a year apart about corks being left out of wine bottles. Well since I am stuck at home today with all of the ice here today, I feel like being a little facetious.

So this is what I think you have wanted to hear for the last two years.

THATS IT! you have found the secrete of drinking wine properly. To get the most health benifits from wine (I am not a doctor, check my profile) it is best to drink at least two bottles of wine per week. Preferably all on the weekend, in as short of a period of time as posible. Do not drink any water with your wine as this may detract from the health benifits of the wine. And to drink your wine at optimale flavor you should take the two bottles of wine you plan to drink on the weekend, pull out the cork and disguard on friday. Place the bottles of wine on top (not inside) the refridgerator.

Anything I've ever read, outside the posts on wine boards, concerning the consumption of red wine and health benifits stress that the key is Moderate drinking; 6-8 oz.? per day. For most of us that's not going to happen. But I guess you have to weigh the effects on your health of the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and the health benifits of red wine and the quality of life we enjoy from drinking a good bottle of wine.

I have one, five ounce glass a day, usually, sometimes less.

What this means is that (roughly) I finish one bottle every five days, approximately.
