2004 Trefethen Cabernet Franc
This has been stored i my cellar since release so it is now at the 10 year mark. Thought I'd pull one and see.

I love cab franc when done right, It's gotta have a bit of veg to it and this nose did give me however small a hint of it. It also showed some dark bramby fruits, and some dust. Wine was perfectly medium plus bodied, good structure, nice fruti still but the finish was marred by a hint of heat. Not too bad but jsut enough to make you notice.

Not a bad bottle for another cool New England evening.

John and I have had some fun times on his patio. Great property but frankly I was always a tad underwhelmed with his efforts. VB

I would agree with you WW. It's the first big property you pass by when you go up so I use to stop more often. but I rarely ever bought much more than a few token bottles. And his kids were more interested in growing the wine business in Asia than they were about the property.

Somehow my son is great friends of Haley Trefethen. He's gifted me with several very nice Trefethen bottles the past few years.

For future reference Cabernet Franc is not Cabernet Sauvignon nor a variant thereof. It is a Lorie Valley variety, and there is a place on the board to post about it.
