Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) Wine Jar (bi-jui)

Somehow, I've begun to start to collect old wine jars from Asia.

start with some Jin dynasty (1115–1234) jars that held fruit/rice wines, then then it went to the cups and other associated items. This week I was at an auction for chinese art and picked up an Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) wine jar. This thing is 15 inches tall and about 10 inches at its widest point. No major chips and not broken pieces, in original brown glazing which is about the only flaw as Han prefered green glazing. Still to have a 2000 year old piece of history in the cellar (where I put it), feels just great!.... provides the rest of the wine with a it of perspective.

Added to the collction a Silver "Jue" a ceremony cup from the Ming Era. This one is simplier than the last one I had. Loving pulling some ofthe history around drinking along with the cellar.
