Does anyone know anything about this liquor? We were cleaning out my wife's grandparents house after her grandmother passed away and I came across a bottle of this. The wife wanted to throw it away but I thought the bottle looked neat so I kept it. Her grandpa was a lawyer and a congressman in the 80's and 90's and received this bottle as a gift. It's at least 20-25 years old and unopened. I have read that it's a very good liquor but also that it's worth a lot of money, if it's this old. Anyone with any info or someone who would maybe like to buy it let me know. Thanks!

Ustin,

I hope you have not thrown it away. Older bottles of this product is rather expensive nowadays but frankly you don't have access to that market. A current bottle of Moutai in the US is about $130. If your bottle can reach the Chinese market, it will be worth many times that due the age (but also remember that there are various verions, some already bottled with ages adn those are worth the most so if you are reading about the market, make sure you know which bottle you have). It is not an alcohol to everyone's tastes. Frankly many don't like it so it's not a bottle to just open up and share as much of it will likely end up not being consumed. I'd hang onto to or call a major auction house to see if they would deal with that as part of an Asian (generally Hong Kong based) auction. Your lot is small but valuable enugh that they might take a single lot, but it's not something that you could retire on.

I walked by a bottle of this at the LCBO in Toronto the other day (the one off McCowan Road in Markham). $385 for 375mL???? REALLY???

$1 per mL??? Or $770 per per 750mLbottle??? Holy smackers. since when did it get up that high?? and that is for the regular bottle.....
