Cono Sur tasting

Tasted through the latest Cono Sur offerings yesterday and here's some impressions:

Cono Sur Viognier 2007
$8.99
It opens with a beautiful floral nose, followed by pear, apricot, and white peach flavors and a long finish. Was very impressed with this SW at that price and I thought the best of the bunch.

Cono Sur Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Black cherry, cassis, and mocha aromas. Flavors follow nose. Not complex but a simple, nice quaff.

Cono Sur Merlot 2006

This is dark purple in color with warm, rich plum, black currant, a touch of mint flavors and aromas but had a metallic edge that was off putting. Not recommended.

Cono Sur Pinot Noir 2007

Cherry and strawberry aromas. Flavors follow nose with a slight cola note. Not complex but a simple, elegant pinot.


Vision Sauvignon Blanc 2007

Fresh grapefruit,gooseberry and cat pee in the nose with various citrus flavors and a long finish. Many raved about this but I would have liked more sharpness to the citrus.

Vision Pinot Noir 2007
$12.99
Lilac and rose petal aromas on the nose. Flavors of strawberry, cherry, and raspberry with a linguring finish. A tad lean.
