I know nothing about wine except that I like Batard Montrachet with dinner. What California or other US wines are comparable to a Batard Montrachet or Montrachet generall? Thanks.

Well, for not knowing much, you sure have good taste. The wines you refer to are the pinnacle of Chardonnay for the world and are priced accordingly. They are both Grand Cru wines, which is the top level for France.
These wines act as a model for the other top producers around the world. You might try some of the very top wines from California or Yattarna from Penfolds in Australia. Weather these wines match your current wines is open to debate, but atleast you'll have some less expensive alternatives.
