wine book question

Greetings all! Haven't participated in the Board for awhile (too much work, not enough play), but still read your posts. Am moving back to the San Jose / Bay Area this month, so a good time to jump back in.

Question: A friend asked if I could recommend a book "or something wine-related" as a gift for his dad (who has started a small vineyard in the mtns of far northern California). Foodie's last book is one option. Any other suggestions?

University of California published a nice book on American wines a year or two ago. I don't recall the name off hand. It gives some background history on many of the wineries.
