It's now snowing in the Hill Country, with sleet as far south as La Grange (home of Miss Maud's Chicken Ranch, aka "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas", closed by then Gov. Dolph Briscoe about 1980 or so.) Dang, I may have to buy a place in Mexico....

Thanks, WD, but from the looks of the weather map, you're going to get more.

Now 36F, and with the wind chill, 23F.

It's supposed to go down below zero here again tonight. All our rain soaked snow is now frozen hard. Our visiting grandkids were walking around on top of it this morning, without sinking in.

Freezing rain all last night, 27F this AM, wife's plants all froze. Lugged those danged things in and out of the house and garage all winter, only to get caught by a bad call from the weather talking heads ("Expect a low of 35 in the hills tonight, no freeze in the forecast.") Yeah, right. They lied.

Need to move further out, buy more cattle, to hell with the city.

Aww, not fair...not fair at all. We've been given a few days respite weatherwise. It's just cold and icy. Enough to cause me to fall on my *** in my driveway this morning. Now that's a fun way to start a day! Luckily only my pride was hurt!

Well got more snow comming in this afternoon thru Friday. It's got so bad around here that some slug stole my snow shovel out of the back of my pickup truck that I was hauling around in case I needed one to dig me, or some poor soul out. Kicker is that it was taken in one of two places, parking lot of a fav liquor store OR parking lot of my POLICE STATION!!!
I want to believe it was taken while in the liquor store. My wife sez, "I told you to put it inside the cab of the truck", like it was my fault that some rock crawler ten fingered my shovel, right, I enticed him by placing it where he could touch it. Courts would probably say it was entrapment cause I left it where he could take it. Went to 10 home stores today before I could find a shovel. Hey WW and all youse in warm places, you can make a killing here or in Hotsies, IK's et alls places, bring thousands of snow shovels and sell em on every corner for double+...that'll stock your wine cellar for a while.

Great Ideer there Dres-man 'cept fer one teensy draw-back..." Bring them suckers up here and sell-'em on ebbery corner" Which entails me crossing the Mississippi. Hate to be the bearer of Ca-Ca tidings but we are in the midst of our 2nd major storm in 2 weeks and it's giving us another 1" + of rain so I;m sure you'uns will encounter this puppy sson. Any-bodys got an extra squeegie? WW

Boy, anybody who would steal a person's snow shovel is truly evil! I am trying to stay positive...Yesterday I bought tickets to the Mets season opener, March 31st. Yes, baseball season will happen! I'm focusing on spring!

Boy Oh Boy...I'm driving home tonight after work and the windshield wipers are on and the drivers wiper has a little ice stuck on the blade preventing a good wipe sooooo I roll down the window and reach out, like we all do (cept for WW) and kinda jolt the wiper while it's wiping and boing!!!the wiper breaks off. Ok, only 8 miles from home when this happens, I pretend I'm a train engineer popping my head in and out of the drivers window to see where I'm going. I get onto my street and find that the County only plowed and salted 85% of the street, wanna guess which part of the 15% I live in? Well I get to my driveway (which is 80'long and on a 30 degree incline, and there's less than a inch of snow BUT ice underneath and can't get up the driveway. I park on the street and walk to the garage, get the snow shovel and shovel 2 paths, for the tires. While I'm shoveling I slip twice and slide to the bottom. God Dam#%!*#t, this driveway ain't gonna get the best of me. So I start spreading Potassium Chloride on the strips that I shoveled, by hand, to melt the ice and as I throw a handful, my wedding band flies off into the snow. Stomping back up the drive I fetch a flash light and hand search the snow until I find the ring. Back into the house, pop a beer, cursing the snow I write this episode while on beer #2. Wishing you all easy shoveling and quick rain run off I officially proclaim this winter a PAIN IN THE ASS...LITERALLY.

Ok, Drew, you win "The Worst Experience in the Snow of '03" contest! Poor guy! I guess there's some sort of perverse logic in this, since you started this thread as "up to your *ss in snow" and here, 77 posts later, things haven't changed!

Just checking out the Weather Channel and the clip from Nashville is the fummiest I've seen in a great while. Some clown in a Beemer is beating his car to death. Don't you folks down South know you don't lock the brakes when you're on ice? Apparently this guy never heard of the concept. Check it out. They've been repeating that clip for the past 20 minutes I've been watching.
