Santa delivered a bottle of this red wine to me yesterday. It appears in good shape - the foil is intact, and the bottom of the cork is moist with no discernable leakage. I'm curious about its estimated value, but more likely I will gather some wine lovers together to see if we have wine or vinegar. Any suggestions?

1966 was a good vintage year, not classic, but a good year. The wines from that vintage need drinking now.

Sorry I'm a lil' late to this party.... been away for a while. I second Bucko's comment.... the 66's definately need drank. I opened a 66' moutin rothschild two months ago, and though it still had plenty of tannins it was a little disappointing on the fruit. In my humble opinion, the 66's in general are quite austere, and will not improve with any more aging.

As far as value is concerned, I'd estimate it anywhere from $100 to $450 at auction, depending on where the fill level is at. The lower the fill level, the higher the chance of oxidation, and the less it will be worth. Hope this helps.

Bucko's rite on. I gave up on the 66s' over 8 years ago when the fruit started dissappearing. I've been advising to drink up or sell ever since. WW

Thanks for the information & advice. While the possible auction price is attractive, I would much rather enjoy the wine with friends who can appreciate it. I'll let you know the opinions once we finish the bottle.
