I do not know alot about this bubbly--the few times I have bought champagne I have bought a "Brut." Will I be disappointed with an extra dry? Is is that sweet?

Opposite, even less "sweet" than Brut...

Hate to disagree but the level of the sparkling wine's sweetness starts with Brut, which ranges from dry to very dry, and is usually a producer's most popular offering. You may also find "extra brut" or "ultra brut" which are bone dry. "Extra dry" is somewhat sweeter than brut, "sec" is slightly sweet, "demi-sec" is medium sweet to sweet, and "doux" is a dessert-styled sparkler.
