Here's a recent article:
http://www.winespectator.com/Wine/Daily/News/0,1145,2526,00.html

Personally, I don't mind the screw caps. I do have a problem with the artificial corks. I had a bunch, (10-15) bottles of wine I could not drink after I found out I was pregnant with my 2 1/2 yr old. I had to dump all the Bogle and others with artificial cork. They tasted awful.

I also found that the artificial corks that have the soft center and open ends have a flaw also. Once the bottle is opened- if I try to store it on its side, the wine leaks through the soft end. This happened with 2 bottles from NY.

Usually once the wine is open I store in upright (recorked) in the refrigerator. You don't need to worry about keeping the cork moist once you've opened the wine. Something like a 10-year Port will keep a couple weeks after opening and most open wines will deteriorate after two to four days anyway so no point in trying to keep the cork moist. That's more for storage prior to opening.

I miss the pop of the cork but prefer screw caps to ruined wines. Some artificial corks are better than others (but the long-term effects of using artificial corks are still under study). I've met several employees from a Raleigh-area firm that manufactures artificial corks. They are trying to interest Banfi in testing them.

Actually, I think I'd prefer screw caps to corks, just because of the fact that there would be no more corked wines. I've heard that one brand of the artificial corks seems to cause the wine to mature faster (forget which one). As to left over, opened bottles - they don't happen often, but when they do, we use some really nice stoppers we got as a gift (guess who from).

I've had several screw caps recently, including the Bonny Doon Big House Pink, and was surprised at how much I liked it. No hassle and no worry. Twist and pour. I'm not as big of a fan of artificial corks, as they're a bear on my lever pull, even though it's a stainless steel nicer one. I have to use the waiter's corkscrew, which I've invariably misplaced, and then they are often quite tough to pry loose. Oh well, either way it beats a corked wine.
