Took my lil' darlin' shopping ( Amazing what letting her pick her own B/D present does for the atmosphere 'tound the domicile) then to lunch where instead of her normal SW I took the last bottle of 78 Stoney Hill Chard from the cellar for her and a 84 Heitz Marthas for moi'. Outside of a few Montrachets I must admit this was the best SW ever to cross these old puckers. Brilliant gold, with a luscious almost overpowering aroma of honeysuckle, vanilla pudding, toasted macadamia nuts and the aromatics all came across on the palate. The lushest mouth-feel I've had from a SW and a finish that was a full 5-lapper plus. She became indignant when I asked for another pour so I went to the Heitz. Still evolving but seems close to the top of its' game. All-in-all still one of the great vineyards in Napa. Miss ole Joe but he's left a great legacy with juice like this.WW
