I have two bottles of wine that were given to me about 5 years ago when I was in Germany. I was wondering if I should consider keeping them or drink them.

One is a 1981 Artur Erlenwein, Portugieser Weissherbst. "Rheinpfalz Erlkonig"; Lauder-pfalz Godramsteiner Red wine.
From Badbergzabern/Sudliche Weinstrasse.
A.P. Nummer 5030036 07182

And the other is a 1983 Muller Thurgau, Emil Wissing, Rheinpfalz white wine.
Amtliche Prufungsnummer 5005056 077 84
By FamilienWappen.
May be all for naught, but just checking.

Welcome to the Wine Board. Your wines might, just might be palatable, but not likely.

Rednose, Welcome to the board. Agree with IK.You`re one year off on both bottlings. 82 was a great vintage. Sorry. Winoweenie

Thanx for the advice winoweenie and inkeeper. I did try the red wine about a week before I posted the question. ( I had two bottles), and it was rather nice and strong. I guess I'll enjoy the other two bottles. Again, thanx for helping this novice.
