My Father recently came by a few bottles of Chablis and Sauternes and I wondered what they may be worth, ballpark in £STG?

Grand vin de Bordeaux Sauternes 1947, x2 bottles.

Chablis, 1er Cru, 1947, bottled by Bouchard Aine & Fils, x1 bottle.

Cheers

Hi JamieH and welcome to the board. It's very doubtful the Chablis isn't long gone and unless the sauternes is Yquem it's survived. Sorry WW

Mr Dutton
I can't seem to find any info on these particular bottles on wine-searcher.com; do you know any alternatives?

Hi Winoweenie
I checked out the Sauternes on "Rogor's Ramblings" - vintage charts (www.stratsplace.com) and it said the 1947 is an extraordinary vintage and drinkable!

There's one sure way to find out, crack that sucker open and enjoy, (hopefully ). 47 was a spectacular vintage but they made Fords, Chevvys, Oldsmobiles, Buicks, Caddilacs and Roll Royces in the vintage. Lote of them dudes quit running in the 60s', 70s' and 80s'. Wine, like everything else, is NOT created equal. You have never said which vineyard the Sauternes came from. WW
