I think I would like to subscribe to some sort of "wine of the month" club for my husband. He has studied and learned much about wine this past year and it sounds like something he might enjoy. I know nothing. Does anyone have a recommendation? I've looked online and they basically look the same....receive one red and one white each month..from around the world. Thank you for ANY help.

Suzy, state laws are extremely restrictive, and prohibit you from legally receiving wine shipments by U.S. Mail, FedEx or UPS from anywhere...except perhaps a Texas winery (and that provision is very recent). It's ridiculous, but that's what we're stuck with, for now. It's all about "taxing opportunities" (which state bureaucrats are concerned they'll miss) and the monopoly clout of the wholesalers' lobby in Austin. There is currently a case in federal court in which plantiffs have charged the state with violation of the interstate commerce provisions of the U.S. Constitution (similar cases are pending in other states). But don't hold your breath. In the meantime, suggest you and your husband seek out wine shops in your area that hold weekly tastings. Wine clubs frequently fail to deliver what they promise anyway. Remember the old Columbia Record Club? That was kind of the model for all of those programs.

By the way, welcome to the board.
