I'd like to spend a day or two of my spring break going wine tasting. I understand that Northern California is supposed to have excellent wineries.

Can anyone recommend a few good places to visit within an hour or two of SF? Also, any tips so I don't embarrass myself?

Thanks!
Ryan

You have hundreds of mostly excellent wineries within two hours of you, and you could get hundreds of recommendations here. Go down to the bottom of the board and open the Wine Country Touring thread. Then "Go" back a whole year. There are a few excellent postings on Napa/Sonoma with great recommendations. Not too many "tips" required. You might want to ask up front if the tasting is going to cost anything. Many charge five or ten dollars for a tasting session, and some of these deduct the charge from purchases. Other than that, just be yourself.
