Looking for a Particular Wine

HELP - A friend bought a case of these at an auction back in 1987 and gave me the last bottle however I refuse to open till I can find where I can get a resupply. Can anyone help? Does it still exist?
The following is off the label:

Brand/Maker: CONTESSINA
Kind: Grape Red Rose
Product of Italy
Bottled in West Germany

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BP, I checked Winesearcher.com to no avail. '87's gonna be very tough to find....suggest you visit some of the wine auction sites.

Sorry for the "humor", but you might just have nothing more than half of what is needed for salad dressing. Produced in Italy and bottled in Germany does not sound very age worthy for a rose, IMHO.

However, you obviously did not understand my question and that is: DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A RESUPPLY? Who said anything about drinking it. You are funny. :rolleyes

Drew did the standard search and couldn't find it. He's one of the better researchers here. He finds all sorts of stuff. If he can't find it, its not to be found. The general consensus is that this wine probably isn't worth replacing. You can probably find a lot better quality drinks for a lot less money.

The people here are very friendly, especially towards people who don't know anything about wine. If they don't give you the answer you want, its not because they don't like wine newbies, its because they couldn't find anything. Accept that fact that the bottle you have may be the last of it you're going to get. And due to EU laws, my guess is that its no longer made. EU wine laws are getting very specific on bottling and origination issues. My guess is no one grows in Italy and bottles in Germany anymore. Especially in West Germany, since the Berlin Wall came down in '89. Enjoy the wine you have, and learn what you can from these friendly and knowledgable folks. They will bend over backwards to help you with anything they can actually accomplish.

I am not an expert. But, like Drew, I do some very good research.

I could not find a thing on your wine. And I still doubt very seriously that you have anything more than a bottle of plonk, no matter how good it may have been when first produced. However, I guess I should not say that; from the tone of your message, I get the impression you already know that.

You know Ben P. Mr Dutton just politely told you that your wine may be dead....would you be that rude if you weren't on the end of a keyboard? This is a friendly board and you should act accordingly or IMHO go play on the Wine Spectator boards which are as dead as your wine.
