I recently bought a bottle of wine at an estate sale of a wealthy, elderly, woman and I am trying to find out some info about the wine. There is no age or date on the bottle but is from the vinyard of Paul Masson, in Saratoga, California. It is listed on the label as California Madeira. Under the label it says Medium dry, Nutty, Mellow.

Can anyone tell me what kind of wine this is, is it worth anything, is it worth saving, or should I open it and see for myself?

Hi Meid, and welcome to the Wine Board. Paul Masson Madeira does not have the reputation or the quality of Madeira from Madeira. Most California Madeira, unlike other stolen wine names such as Burgundy, Chablis, and Champagne; actually tastes a little like real Madeira. So, depending on when it was made, it may be drinkable. Don't believe it has any resale value.
