Wine Baby

Hello everyone! I'm so happy I found this forum!
Like my subject line states, I'm a wine baby. I just got into wines about a month ago when I had my first bottle in Paris on my birthday. I received a "crash course" on wines over that week. I'm interested in learning more. So far, I've only delved into the world of reds and I haven't found one yet that I dislike! lol. I've been reading over the differences in types of reds. I was wondering though, does anyone have a good article or website where I could learn the basics of wine, wine making, wine tasting, and a basic vocabulary? Any other comments and help/guidance would be appreciated.

Hi AofM and welcome to the board. The best advice we give to novices is to buy one of two books that are specifically geared to answering all of your questions. One is Wines for Dummies and the other is Immers'book posted by IK many times. Either of these will position you to really get into the WWOW (wunnderful wurld uf wine).WW [img]http://wines.com/ubb2/wink.gif[/img]

Welcome! Those are great books to start out with. Of course wines.com has an extensive learning area to dive into with a glass of wine in hand. I would add that a few of us here on this board have websites worth checking out as well! Foodie has some great wines with food pairings at <www.is-wine.com>. I do a little writing/reviews for <www.winesquire.com> (& much more to come from me on my own site.)And Bucko has many handy wine reviews at <www.wineloverspage.com>.
Just from these three sites you can find links to probably twenty more sites and then twenty more....

BTW- Andrea's (one of her books is suggested above)website also offers some good info
