Stag's Leap 1992

I need some help finding out about a bottle of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 1992. My husband recieved it as a gift. We both know very little about wine. His brother is wanting it to be opened on Christmas, but other have said to wait. I guess my ?? is to open or not to open? Is it worth any $$$? And how does it compare to the 1996 bottle? We love the 1996 Stag's cabernet. So any help we be great!! thanks
