To chill, or not to chill...

This is my question.

Definitely chill it, and expect it to be sweet.

I guessed as much, but then got to thinking, "I probably wouldn't chill a brandy..." and went ahead and asked.

Thanks for the advice!

It's a Romariz white port - nice, but nothing fancy. Certainly worth the 8.50 Euros I paid for it. Saw it on the shelf and thought I'd try something new without paying an arm and a leg.

I have only tried white Port once but think it is a nice treat in the summer. I just don't see it at the retailer that often.

Chill baby chill!!

BTW, there are a few styles of white port. Some are "fresher" and those work well in a mixed drink as well. I live something called a port splash (i tried it at Sandeman when I was in Porto) and it is 1/3 white port 2/3's sparkling water and a small slice of lemon.

Engineer, I think that was one of the recommended drinks at a Port seminar I attended in Raleigh.

Just a quick input from a talk I gave on Port:

Comes in two varieties, dry and sweet. Usually drunk slightly chilled as an aperitif. Grapes - Arinto, Gouveio, Malvasia and Viosinho are the most common. Drink while young – it oxidizes quickly.
Food matches - Roasted almonds, hard crumbly cheese, such as Wensleydale, Cheshire.
