Hello, I have "inherited" quite a bit of wine recently. I have almost no knowledge of wine and it's value. Where would I go to find out if any of my wine is worth anything? I have tried googling a couple of the names but have not come up with anything. I am having a hard time even figuring out what is the name and what is the type of wine on the label. Any help is appreciated!

Hello Dicegrrl. I can not help you with any specifics. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can offer more, but some thoughts to have are:

How were they stored when you got them? If they were not stored on their side in a cool dark place, that could ruin them.

What do you know about the person you "inherited" them from? Are they the type of person who would have invested money into more than an $8 bottle? An inexpensive bottle will usually stay that way and is not meant to be aged extended periods.

Make a list of what you have and see if the local store has anything like them. If you have a bottle of (example purposes) Yellowtail Chardonay '04 and they carry the '06, the value would not be that different.

Hi There! Welcome to the wineboard!

I would look for vintage charts on line. They will give you the year and the region. If you are not sure of the region you can google the wine. ie: Barolo = Piedmont, Italy. That wine might be fine but if you are going to open it then you will need to pour it very, very carefully because it will throw a lot of sediment.

As for selling them as Pinot said unless you can verify how and where they were stored properly most people won't buy them.

Hi DG and welcome to the board. I don't know if aanyone else has tried but I've unsuccessfully tried to access the photobucket address you've posted and it has come back no record both times. WW PS You need to post everthing on the label of a couple of the bottles and maybe that'll give us some pertinant info.

One of them was a 1967 Barolo which might be ok if stored properly. The other was a Bardolino but I don't remember the year.
