Does anyone know of an easy to find wine that suggests the taste of licorice?

Thanks! I'll try it. If anyone knows of any others that would be great.

Duane, do what I did. Type Licorice into the Search function. There were seven or so reusults including some other wines.

A nice Chateau de Twizzler is always good.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

Thanks guys... I used the search function and got some other suggestions. Barnesy, I'm afraid I couldn't find your suggestion anywhere... hmmm... :-)

I'm going to school in Minnesota right now, it's a dry campus. I won't be able to experiment with new wines until I get back to Austin for the summer. These will be fun ones to try though... can't wait! Will the Central Market in Austin carry the Foppiano?

Most Lagrein Dunkel (from Alto Adige) and teroldego Rotaliano (from Trentino) have distinct black liquorice notes mixed with a dark tar or smoke component.

Central Market may not have it but the Austin Wine Merchant should. They are a great retailer and one you should get to know real well. They just had a fantastic sale (30% of all Burgundys, 40% of Italians I think)

Enjoy

I found the Foppiano mentioned above at a local grocery store for just over $16... is that a good price?

Duane, that is a good price. I was just out in Sonoma and I visited Foppiano. They had just a few of the 98 Petite Sirahs left, and I believe the asking price was around $18.

It's going for $16 here in the Middle Atlantic.
