I have been troubleshooting and found that I may have caused a problem for many of you when I moved the board because I changed the setting for cookies from www.wines.com to just plain wines.com.

It appears that the browser is treating this as a separate cookie. Anyway, I have now changed the setting back to www.wines.com. This should help rectify the situation. If you are still having problems, I suggest going to preferences and set the cookie to 1 year. Then close your browser (end your online session) and then come back again. Your username & password should be remembered. Folder and lightbulbs should be behaving.

If you are still having problems, you may need to "clear cookies" in your browser. This is done from the perferences page (see the link at the beginning of the text). I hope this is not necessary.

Pls. let me know how this works.

Thanks,
Jackie

See! I told you she was messing with our minds, and as WW/HW/IK exemplifies, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

You're so welcome. I'm glad I could get to the bottom of it. The smallest things (like forgetting the www) can foul things up so fast... But we can't let the machines win, after all.

Still waiting to hear back on whether I should turn on html for all forums. Your thoughts pls.

Jackie

WW & KCW,

Hmmm. You should not be having these problems. I am hoping it will not recur. Will you please let me know if these problems are continuing.

The one hour and 6 tries to get the homepage REALLY bothers me. As far as I know, the server has not been down at all. I am keeping a sharp eye out from my end.

Thanks,
J.

Not the Eastern front. The Wine and Politics light bulb is still on and the folder is still lit inside. All other light bulbs since 6/11 are still on and all the folders from that date on are all pink.

WW - I'm glad we've got you squared away (as much as can be, that is)...

KC -

First, try connecting to the WineBoard through the following URL instead of whatever you might have bookmarked:
http://www.wines.com/wineboard/

This path to the wineboard should reset the browser's cookie. What happens? If it does not look right, please send me more info:

Have you re-set preferences AGAIN to remember your username & password for one year?

Have you gone into "preferences" and used the link there to reset all cookies?

Tell me what you are using for a browser (IE, Netscape Navigator, or other) and what version it is. Also what service (ISP) is connecting you to the Internet? Are you behind a firewall? What are your current security settings for cookies?

We'll get to the bottom of this eventually!

Jackie
