I'm not sure what these bottles are the were purchased at an auction. This is what is on the label Tokai AS2U 1967 Edelwein 1978. On the other bottle it says Chateau-Grillet 1975 Neyret-Gachet. Also what are some types of wine are good to invest in to start a collection.

Hello, I would think this is the dry white wine from Chateau Grillet which is the Rhone Valley's most famous and rare white. Made from the Viognier grape. Owners are Neyrat-Gachet. Your bottle is probably undrinkable now, but if it was mine I would pop the cork and try it for experience sake if nothing else. Tokai is in Hungary; Aszu is a grape variety grown in that area. For Tokai Aszu the grape is left on the vine until it shrivels and therefore the juice is very concentrated. Tokai Aszu wine, which is made by a unique two-stage process, is very sweet, luscious, long living, and very expensive. In simple terms quality/sweetness is measured in 'puttonyos'. This is found printed on the label, usually as 'putts' preceeded by a single digit, e.g. '3 putts'. Generally '4 putt' Aszu has the most balance and finesse. I'm puzzled by the two dates however; one of them will be the vintage. Although Tokai Azsu is usually long lived, whether or not yours is still drinkable, will to some extent, depend on how it's been kept over the years. As for investing, having got my fingers burned in 1974, along with other investors here, when 'investment' wine prices took a dive, I have dodged the question ever since.

Hi Wanna' and for the 100th time I'll post this VERY sound advice. Buy wines you want to drink. Buy Stocks if you want to invest. For every success story you can find investing in wine , I can recite 15-20 failures buying wine as a commodity. WW
