Being still new to this, I'm wanting to understand what an aged wine really tastes like. I saw a 1990 Woodward Canyon at the local shop, but can't find any tasting notes, reviews, anything on this. The Woodward website just says drink/hold. I've really enjoyed some younger WC both Cabs & Merlots, so I've got a point of reference. Is there a reference/resource for obscure, older wines out there? Anybody here have any insight?

Thanks

I had a bottle of the Dedication Series a couple of years ago. Toasty oak and cherry fruit were still abounding. Tasty.

Grapeskie I posted on the 92 a while ago. Looked in my notes and find nothing on the 91. 'Twere a good vintage so reccomend opening that sucker and letting Bucko drop by. He wont add to the tasting, but you'll make an old person happy.WW

Had that recently. Great stuff, with a conspicuous whiff of something deciduous: cedar, spruce, like that. Very fine-grained and earthy, with a lovely sweet-stone character and whole gobs of berries. Nice wine that's at it's peak.

It's probably worth what they're asking...unless they want $100.

Hate to be picky, but aren't cedar and spruce conifers?

Deciduous would be ---- oak.

SB - They're asking 80 bucks for it at Esquin. Do you know where they get these older ones from? And if they've been stored properly?

I would think SB's "deciduous" descript would indicate a hint of pine needles.
