Here's a nice value and easy to love wine. Opaque in the glass with a nose of blackberry, cocoa and milk chocolate. Flavors of spicy blackberry and cocoa, not cloying or candied nor in the blueberry milkshake style of many Aussies, but just a delicious, addictive wine. I couldn't stop smelling and sippin'. Not a food wine, imho, but a kick back and enjoy just because you can wine. 13.8% Alc/vol. $9

Sounds lovely! Thanks for the tip. (I'm pretty sure Columbia Crest got several mentions in Wine Spectator's spread on value wines.)

I picked up a bottle of the 2002 lastweek at Lowes Foods, they had it on sale for $5.99. A very nice wine for the price. I'll have to see if they still have it on special.

I've been buying the 02 by the case at $6. Great sipping wine.

My note on the 02:

2002 Columbia Crest, Shiraz, Two Vines, Columbia Valley, Washington, $8, 115,000 cases. Crisp and fruity, the wine displays straightforward flavors of black cherries, cola and strawberry preserves; 83/84.

The 2002 will very likely go into allocation soon, just as the 2001 did after the WS review.
