2000 Tiger Mountain Vineyards Mourvedre (GA)

Tiger Mountain is one of, if not the best winery in N. GA. We've tasted their line extensively through the years, both at the winery, from shop purchases in Atlanta, and at Wine South. This one we purchased at the winery about 3 years ago as part of a mixed-case, and it's been a lonely orphan in our cellar since then. I thought it might be dead, as the other Mourvedres, though tasty, were lighter and they didn't seem to have the stuffing for longer aging. This one weighed in at only 10.5% alc., which would suggest either a difficulty ripening or some RS. It is dry, however, and my fears about aging were unfounded, as it keeps on keepin' on. Dark berry nose and flavors with a vanilla finish, along with a mid-palate earthiness that makes for some complexity. GA wines keep getting more and more serious. We paid something like $15 for it at the winery. All I have left is a Norton, which was my favorite from them, though through the years we've had their Viogner, Cab Franc, Touriga, and Tannat, as well as a field blend.
