Topped the list of the Beverage Tasting Institute (BTI) 2007 World Wine Championship awards for Riesling with a score of 91.

From Norbud Vineyard.

I liked this well enough at upon tasting it during the June offline that I bought a bottle to ship home with a mixed case. Should have bought more of both this and the Hermann Wiemer Dry Riesling.

12% alcohol. Nice golden color with clarity and transparency. Nose seems to fall between apple skin and stone fruit such as peaches or apricots. Impression is of a balanced, fruity wine with sufficient minerals and structure to hold for a couple years.
Paired nicely with shrimp scampi. Had it the second night with broccoli cheese soup and Canadian bacon.
Nice going Glenora.

Thanks WOW. I agree. This was one of my favorite wines from the June offline.

KC, I polished off the bottle of Rkatitelli the other day without knowing (thought it was teh riesling that I brought up). What a very nice wine....too bad I only had one....

Going to have to try that Norbud Riesling soon. We have 6 resting nicely downstairs.

Isn't that Rkatsiteli nice, Eng? I'll bet just about everyone who tries that wine buys only one bottle mostly for the unusual grape name. Then when they do try it at home, or wherever, they wish they had more. I think I read a few years ago that Rkatsiteli is the third most commercially planted wine grape on the planet. Makes you wonder who's drinking it all.

KC,

It is really nice. Next time I will definitely pick up a few. If it is the third most planted grape in the world, it must be either not handled as well as by Dr. Frank or blended into something unrecognizable, or may worse, distilled? If so too bad, I really enjoyed it as did the friends that dropped by. I had a good time trying to get them to pronounce it.

WOW, they are even better with some time on them. We popped an '03 in August that could end up being our wine of the year. Didn't do a separate post, but included it in our Grand Manan trip report: http://wines.com/ubb/Forum39/HTML/001031.html

Tasting this as a preamble to dinner - roasted chicken w/ 2002 Sea Smoke Botella (TN after dinner). TN's on the Riesling very close to WoW, but I don't get the apple skin. This is a very, very nice wine - sorry WW, but it's too bad you don't do SW's. You don't know what you're missing.
