2002 Salmon Run, New York, Johannisberg Riesling ($11.95 at Winery). 11.5% alcohol. This is the one that was slightly off dry. Gives a sense of spiced apples on the nose and upfront. More appley and some peachy fruit along with surprising cripness, despite the RS, cross the palate. Very nice remembrance on the finish.

Matched it purposely with boneless, skinless chicken breasts marinated in roasted garlic salsa (1/2 C), freshley squeezed lime juice (1/3 C), and Hoisin Sauce (2 t), all whisked together; grilled over charcoal with soaked mesquite chips. All accompanied with salad in blue cheese dressing.

Great match, but would also like to try it with a nice Gewurztraminer.

The Gewurz would probably be a very good match also.

We just got back from a three day, two night whirlwind trip to Utica, New York for an appointment for Bev with a special doctor there. It went well, but we didn't have time to do any touring as we would have loved to. One scant highlight was a bottle of the '03 in their local Macaroni Grill there. It cost $22, and was excellent with the herbed chicken in fettucini. If anything, it was even better than the '02. The slight sweetness helped match the strong flavors in the dish.

Dr. Frank's wines will be mentioned on perky Andrea Immer's Food Channel show this weekend.

Do you know what day and time she is on? And is it the Food Network? Last time I looked she was on a different network.

IK,

I purposely left it open-ended because, not watching television much, I haven't any idea what all these channels/networks are.

The press release I got from the winery called it the Food Channel, and these are the times listed.

"Simply Wine with Andrea Immer" will air on: October 10th @ 10pm; October 11th @ 1am; October 16th @ 10pm, and October 17th @ 1am.

Simply Wine with Andrea Immer is on the Fine Living Channel. Unfortunately, we don't get it here.

Last bottle, last night with a new slant on sauteed chicken breast. We seasoned it with salt, pepper, granulated garlic, and ground fennel. After cooking it in butter and OO, deglazed the pan with Port. Poured the resulting syrup over the chicken. Mmmm. Went perfectly with the Riesling.
