2007 Glenora Wine Cellars, Finger Lakes, Riesling ($12.99 Bremer's, Utica). Alcohol level: 11%. This was a very good price; don't know if it was the end of the vintage for Bremer's or not.

As usual this "regular" bottling was off-dry. We got apples and ripe pears on the nose and upfront. A nice complex of fruit and honey coursed the middle; and the finish lingered.

We matched it with crab cakes (slightly modified Old Bay recipe), and salad.

Have you seen the new Glenora cookbook that Anne and I worked on for Gene?

Well, I would have thought by now that Glenora would have the book up on their Web site--but they don't.

Anne and I went in with a partner, Michael Turback (used to own a restaurant in Ithaca--the first to sell all NY wine). He's also a writer with a number of food books.

We have published two books thus far and have a few contracts in the making. Glenora's was our second book. It's available at Glenora and on Amazon.

It's a cookbook of Glenora's Veraison Restaurant recipes paired with their wine.

Maybe I should put this on the advertising page--or maybe Alex can move it there.

I don't know how to insert a URL on this Web site, so this is the Amazon spot.

We opened the last '07 tonight and matched it with a very modified recipe from Giada that we can now call Linguini with Shrimp & Lobster and Lemon Oil. Mmmmmmmm good. We'll be going over that way next month to get some '08s.

Another '07 tonight. We picked up a couple on the quick October trip to Utica. Absolutely delightful with hot turkey sandwiches and carrots. Yum, yum Saturday night. Last of the T-giving turkey!

What a tragedy! Hopefully they contain that stuff before it fouls up that whole beautiful area. WW

When last over that way this past March we picked up a mixed case from Glenora. Six of the mix was their 2010 Finger Lakes Riesling. We popped the first of these last night with Turkey Tetrazzini and it was a great match.

The '10 is a continuation of a long line of great Rieslings from Glenora. When their winemaker doesn't add any adjectives to the wine name such as "Dry" you can guess that it will be slightly off dry, and this is the way we like them. Many other FL producers do the same thing. The wine was priced at $14.39 and the alcohol level was 11%.

This one gives you apricots and peaches on the nose and upfront. You get another rush of fruit along with the afore mentioned sweetness on the palate. The finish is lovely. Happily there are five more in the rack!

No more Gewurtz, so tonight we had another Riesling with some of the leftover Turkey Tetrazzini. Yum!!! One more serving in the fridge.

Another '10 tonight. It matched perfectly with a casserole of ham, potato, a nice béchamel sauce with a cup of grated Pecorino Romano in it.; and chopped spinach on the side. Yum, yum!!!

Last night we had a 2007 Anthony Road Semi-Dry Riesling--quite a classy wine.

Had it with my potato and egg dish: potatoes, fennel, sweet red pepper, onion, garlic, kale, Swiss chard, basil and olive oil simmered until potatoes are cooked, pour in lightly stirred eggs (three per person) with a dash of seltzer and TOBASCO, topped with chopped parsley. Cook until eggs are fluffy yet still moist.

Thomas, hope you have some '08s squirreled away. That was one fantastic wine and an award winner to boot.
