2000 Georges Duboeuf, Cru Du Beaujolais, Grande Cuvee, Brouilly ($13). What a marketing genius, put "Cru Du Beaujolais" on a Beaujolais Cru!!! Now we can't say, "It won't have 'Beaujolais' on the label" anymore.

At any rate I really like this one. Hits the nose and tongue tip with the aroma and taste of plums and blackberries. The complexity that separates the Crus from the little guys races across one's palate, and finishes with a small voice that says "Take another bite of hamburger."

And a hamburger wine it truly is. Matched it with 1/3 lb burgers sauteed in OO & butter, seasoned with granulated garlic and onion, as well as salt and peppermill. Served up on big buns with sliced onions nuked in OO, swimming in a pool of Delmonte Catsup.

With the Brouilly it doesn't get any better.
