We chose the Chiroubles Flower Label for our grilled hamburgers, oven-fried potatoes & baked beans this evening. Soft, slighly sweet nose, with full ripe fruit, so light that it dances on the tongue. Alcohol is 12.5%, and the color is of a bright Indian ruby. It's a big hit with the missus.
I'm now in the hunt for the '98 Ch. de Javernand. Cellar book reminds us that the '97 was truly superb, and the best example of Duboeuf's Chiroubles; the single case was quickly exhausted.
For a complete listing of Duboeuf's wines, vist his website at www.duboeuf-beaujolais.com.

Thanks for the information. I visited the web-site! Very informative.

I've sent the following request to my local wine merchant:

Get me a mixed case of:

Domaine de la Tour du Bief - Moulin-A-Vent
Domaine de la Feuillee - Cote-de-Brouilly
Chateau De Javernand - Chiroubles
Domaine des Tilleuls - Chiroubles

And I also thanked him profusely for having gotten me two cases of Jean Descombes Morgon.

Hopefully I will get a positive response on my mixed case request.

Excellent!
Sounds like you have a good wine merchant to deal with. I'm sure you'll show your appreciation in some way. We're not all so fortunate in our choice of merchants to deal with; most here have both of their hands
in our pockets.

The two cases I received from Houston (Morgon & Chiroubles) were both Flower Label, unfortunately, so I still don't have the Descombes or Javernand. (Sister-in-law obtained them for me, and probably thought she was doing me a favor by buying the lowest priced options of the two types I specified. She meant well, so I can't get upset about it.) I'm still in the hunt for both.

That will be a wonderful mixed case!

Hotwine, it would have been a wonderful mixed cased. I got a reply from my merchant today. Not good.

He can still get me the Jean Descombes Morgon, but out of the wines I listed above all he can get is the Domaine de la Tour du Bief - Moulin-A-Vent.

So I compromised with him and asked for a split case between the two.

Not his fault - it is the distributors who cause the problem.

My wine merchant still gets my compliments.

Those two that he can get are the ones I would prefer, anyway. The Tour du Bief and Descombes are both excellent wines. I think you came out ahead.

Dredged up one of these to accompany BEEF stew tonight. It's now a quiet little wine, with all of its former sharp edges rounded off, leaving only bruised cranberries and the whiff of 12.5% alcohol. Don't know how much longer it will last....still have a couple of bottles hiding out.
