Greetings all,

We're headed down to Napa Valley in October and are looking for suggestions as to where the best places are to stay. [We don't want to drink and drive... ]

Any great restaurants that you'd highly recommend?

Any places close to Harlan's Estate Wineries?

A spa facility would be kind of nice...

Thanks in advance for any info...

So many wines... so little time!

Cheers

Go back on the Wine Country touring thread for a year and you'll find tons of outstanding inns and restaurants that we've posted on. If you're only interested in a place close to Harlan suggest you get reaservations at Meadowood or Aubergre de Soliel. These's lots more to Napa than Harlan. WW

Thanks WW...

Yes, of course you're right about Napa being more than just Harlan's. I'm looking forward to doing a lot more tastings than just Harlan's but I'm meeting a friend there who's a big fan of Bill Weaver's juices.

I'll follow your advice and do the search from back a year ago.

Thank you.

Cheers

The only place I've stayed in Napa (on two visits) is Wine Country Inn. Individually decorated very nice rooms. Beautiful scenery. Nice breakfast provided. Chance to meet other guests in a cordial setting. There have been many restaurant changes/openings since my last visit so I would hesitate to make recommendations there except to say that French Laundry (reserve in advance) is noted for fine dining experience (expensive) and Domaine Chandon (sparkling wines) is a nice place for lunch if you are visiting the winery.

Judy and I usually stay in Calistoga. It doesn't have the French Laundry, or other such, but it does have nice dining. Most frequently we've stayed at the Trailside Inn on Silverado Trail. It's tucked into the Three Palms Vineyard, and one of the nice sights is Sterling Winery at sunrise when the sun just gets over the ridge. All of a sudden the whitewashed winery just explodes in light - quite a pretty sight. Anyway, we like it - only three units, kitchens in each one and the owners are super nice.

It's at the bottom of the board. As my daughter frequently tells me, "Keep on scrolling down."
