Our first snow of the year! It's been a very mild fall. Got the last of the sage and oregano in before it started. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Snowing all day but no real accumulation. Very wet snow and wet ground...no golf tomorrow though. Going to our first holiday party tonight, west of Baltimore, and not looking forward to the travel. I'm the designated driver so 1 quick glass of wine on arrival then water the rest of the party .

Sort of half hearted snowing here. Heard the forecast, so harvested the horseradish yesterday. I did the processing today out back by the kitchen door, which was open so it wouldn't bother Judy. Didn't work because she mentioned the smell and the cold. Stuff came out pretty good - close to rocket fuel in potency. Got to get some out to the Weener to go with the Christmas roast.

No snow here, but temperatures have dropped to the "I wanna go south" level.

In two days I'm off to NY City for a few days of wine industry shenanigans, and Id decided to take the train instead of drive, as snow is in the forecast and I'd rather someone else deal with it while I take a nap.

It's a hassle to get to the train station--early morning drive, and it takes nearly twice as long to get to NYC--but it's worth it not to sit behind the wheel and face the many hazards of a trip through the Catskills or the Poconos.

Shapin' up to be one big honker of a storm! Sympathies to you folks up nawth who have to deal with it.

Different storm, but look what's happening in northern France and southern UK - the Chunnel closed with over 2000 people stuck inside and thousands of trucks backed up on roads leading to it.

The only good news I can see in it on our side of the pond is its likely impact on Congress - hopefully, a total shut-down!

Hotwine,

I'm an avid hater of snow, but if it will shut down Congress--bring it on.

Drew, I remember living in the Maryland/DC area and how unprepared people were for just an inch of snow. I don't envy you right now. Never forget the time I saw a woman trying to extricate her tires from about four inches of snow using a dust pan.

Does your snowblower have an electric ignition? If not, ugh!

Yup, electric ignition and all the whistles. I thought it might be a clogged fuel line but that checked out fine so no biggie, I just shoveled the 100+ foot elevated driveway, our house sits high on a hill, for the first time with about 6 or so inches. Much easier to clear several times than 20 to 30 inches at once. My wife who supervises the Baltimore City Police 911 system on the 2pm to 10pm shift left for work at 0845 this morning.

Drew,

Clean off the spark plug and close the gap a little--or get a new plug. Check out that the choke is working right, too.

Very little else can go wrong with those things--maybe old gasoline from last year; sometimes that needs a fresh supply.

I took a few pics this morning after digging out. Estimate close to 20" and it's a beautiful snow, not heavy thank goodness. Just copy and paste to see.

Great pics, Drewski, and beautiful snow! Am sure grateful I'm not having to deal with that stuff. Looks like Heart Attack City!

Very pretty. But you call that snow? We'd call it a dusting.
